How To Apply For CA Intermediate Exams?

 CA Intermediate Registration Process:

CA Intermediate registration can be completed online through the official website icai.org. Registration is open year-round, but there are specific cut-off dates for each exam session. For example, to appear for the CA Intermediate exam in May 2024, you must complete the registration by September 1, 2023. For the November 2023 examination, the registration deadline is May 2024.

Intermediate Registration 2023.


To appear for the CA Intermediate exam, candidates must register eight months before the exam date. There are two routes for registration: Foundation Entryway and Direct Entryway.


Foundation Entryway:


Candidates who have previously registered for the foundation course plan and qualified for the foundation examination can choose this route.


Direct Entryway:


This route is for candidates who didn't take a foundation course or skipped the foundation exam. Candidates can register for the CA Intermediate course and examination through this route if they meet the following criteria:

  • Commerce graduates or postgraduates with a minimum of 55% marks
  • Other students with different degrees and a minimum of 60% marks
  • Intermediate level pass from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or the Institute of Company Secretaries of India


Eligibility for Direct Entryway:


Candidates through the direct entry route must be graduate/postgraduate students who have studied at least three subjects among Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Law, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial management), Taxation (including direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration, or management accounting, securing a minimum of 55% in those subjects.

For the May 2023 exam, students registering through the direct entry route need to provide satisfactory proof of having passed graduation. They must also start their practical course training (articleship) on or before September 15, 2022, and complete their orientation course and IT training by December 31, 2022, before taking the May 2023 CA Intermediate examination.


For Foreign Candidates:


The registration fee for both groups is Rs. 1000, and for single groups, it is Rs. 600. These fees do not include any other activity and articleship fees.


Documents Required for CA Intermediate Registration 2023:


For both routes, certain documents need to be submitted to the regional office within seven days of online registration. These documents include:


Foundation Route:

  • Attested copy of the mark sheet of the class 12 examination or its equivalent certificate from a recognized central government examination pass marks statement.


Direct Entry Route:

  • Attested copy of graduation/post-graduation mark statements/mark sheet of the intermediate level examination from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.


Other necessary documents to submit include a recent color photograph, proof of nationality (if the candidate is a foreigner), and proof of special category certificate (SC/ST, OBC, or differently-abled).


Steps to Register for CA Intermediate 2023:


  1. Visit the official website and find the 'course registration form' option under the 'students' tab.
  2. Register online by providing your details, such as name, gender, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and other required information.
  3. After filling in the necessary details, submit the form and an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  4. Enter the OTP and log in with your credentials (email ID and password).
  5. Complete the registration by filling in all the required details.
  6. Upload scanned copies of the original documents.
  7. Make the registration payment through the online payment gateway.


Ensure that you register with the correct details to the board of studies for the CA Intermediate examination, and then proceed to complete the application for the CA Intermediate examination in 2023.
